FAQ

How does Peak Blend Medium Roast taste?
Peak Blend is a true medium roast with subtle flavors and low acidity. It's comfortingly sweet, boasting a medium body with milk chocolate flavors interlaced with light spice and a sweet, mild finish. In short, it's not overly bold + complex, but it certainly is not dainty either. You don't need to be a coffee nerd to enjoy Peak Blend. Kim and I think it's a perfect "daily drinker."

How does Peak Season Light Roast taste?
Peak Season is a rotating seasonal light roast. Every season brings a different flavor profile. Check out the product page for the description of this season's light roast.

What about ground coffee?
Peak Coffee is available in whole bean, and 2 different grind sizes. If you grind your own coffee, order whole bean. If you use a drip coffee machine with a paper filter, order the filter drip (regular) grind.  If you use a french press, order the french press (course) grind.

Do you sell K-cups?
Many of our customers who use a Keurig coffee maker order the regular ground Peak Coffee and brew the fresh coffee in a reusable K-cup. This is the best way to get both the convenience of a Keurig, and the primo taste of fresh coffee.

When was Peak Coffee roasted?
Peak Season and Peak Blend are roasted fresh every Thursday. If you have previously purchased your coffee at the grocery store, it is highly likely that your coffee was roasted more than 90 days ago! You'll taste the difference.

When will my order ship?
We ship orders every weekday morning.  If you order today, your coffee will ship tomorrow.

Will Peak Coffee arrive fresh?
Yes, Peak Coffee is packaged in the best possible way for freshness... it's nitrogen flushed. In short, oxygen is the worst thing for roasted coffee. Nitrogen flushing removes oxygen and moisture from the packaged coffee, optimizing flavor, freshness and shelf life.

Where is the Peak Blend grown?
Peak Blend Medium Roast is sourced from family-owned farms organized around the Cooperativa de produccion Tzeltal-Tzotzil, an organization operating near San Cristobal de Las Casas in the northern part of Chiapas, Mexico. Exceptional care is taken by producers to depulp, ferment and dry their coffee, which is aided by the use of farm-owned micro mills. Coffee farms from this organization tend to be less than ten acres in size, and produce honey as well as coffee. Farm owners and producers have focused on organic production methods to protect the environment, increase overall quality, and gain higher income to improve the livelihood of their families.  Learn more about San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas here.

Chris, how do you prepare your Peak Coffee?
We order whole bean Peak Coffee, and coarsely grind the beans fresh each morning in a OXO Brew Conical Burr Coffee Grinder. Then we brew in our Gator French Press Coffee Maker. We love this press!  When we're in the mood for an especially peppy cup, I grind Peak Coffee really fine (espresso grind) and brew it in a Primula Stovetop Espresso Maker.
